Today is Halloween!

So, it's Halloween, and my neighborhood is about to be filled with trick or treaters!  So, yes, I have some candy for them when they come to my door, but my focus is on my new passion.  I feel happy to have this opportunity to blog about what I art.  This week, I created "Earth's Bloom", my new work.  It is featured on my Facebook page, where I sponsored a contest to help me name the piece.  I only received 3 entries but I as so happy, it was as if I had received 50!  Each entry allowed me to spin my creative juices together to finally end up with the name of the piece. When I told my mom the name, she thought it was wonderful.  So, thanks to the three guys who sent in entries.  How amazing!  Now I have the awesome  opportunity to choose a gift for them...that was the surprise...i decided to give each of them a gift.  How cool is that!

Thinking about my next work of art...stay tuned!!!  Did I say, Today is Halloween?!

I worked late today and when I got home, it was dark.  Albeit a little tired from my weekend class, I managed after a few minutes to get upstairs to my art studio.  I quickly immersed myself into creation mode and painted a scene.  I was inspired just because I was happy.  It took me about 3 hours to do the painting.  I posted a photo of it on my FB page and asked visitors to my page to help me name the painting and to submit their ideas by midnight tomorrow night!  It'll be fun to see the responses.  Who knows, maybe the best submission will get a gift from me...that would be a neat thing to do.  Hmmmm?

Will let you know the names that are submitted.

New Possibilities

This weekend I have been in a course that is allowing me to get out of my comfort zone and to explore the realm of living in the moment and exploring the realm of immense possibilities.  It is allowing me to come to grips with who I am and how I came to be.  It is life-changing and I am grateful for the experience.  As a result, I am expecting an overwhelming change in the way I form and nurture relationships, plus many other plusses.  Living in integrity!

Have a blessed weekend!

Just Do It!

When you have a dream, you need to Go For It!  Don't make excuses, or settle for mediocrity in your life.  What harm is there in persuing your dream?  That is just what I am doing.  I have always loved art...drawing with crayons, colored pencils, watercolor, acrylic, pen, charcoal, name it.  I used to draw posters, make designs out of clay, silly putty (LOL) and paper mache.  Then I STOPPED!  Cold.

Now after many years, I am back into it.  I noticed the yearning for creative art started when I began to take long walks.  I began to notice nature like I had not done for years.  I fell in love with the night sky...the moon, the stars, the planets.  I also loved the serenity of water, budding flowers, sunsets and sunrise.  Colors have always fascinated me, as well as eclectic arrangements.  Leaves, petals, tree trunks, stems present very interesting opportunities to create.  Pop art, and even some graffiti caught my attention.

As a young child I engaged myself in drawing lots of letters...some looked like fat balloons and the others looked like Times New Roman fonts.  I would draw new designs for hours.

What a pleasure it is now for me to take some time out of my busy day to recapture what I loved so dearly.  Practice makes perfect.

So, my word to you is 'follow your dream'...don't give up...just do it!:)

Until next time - Y.'Vette.

"When your day seems so very dark...He won't leave you alone.  Jesus will step right in on time.  I am a living witness".

Got up early this morning, washed the sink dishes, ran the dishwasher, and cooked breakfast - grits, bacon, and eggs, hot herbal tea!  Then immediately went upstairs to my studio to begin my work. Decided to paint a lotus flower.  They used to be favorites when I was younger.  Have not painted one in a long time.

Turned on my vinyl and began to play an oldie, but goodie entitled "There is Hope for this World"  by Bobby Jones and New Life, 1979.  Talking about throwback.  As I was painting, I began to intercede for a loved one in major need of deliverance.  I gave it to Jesus, because He and only He can do this work!

I am about finished with my lotus flower.  Let me know what you think about her.  I love it.

The Devil is a LIAR!!!

So you know the deal...10 days of bliss, fun, happiness and that old slew-footed demon rears his ugly head.  This afternoon I received some information that was very disturbing; however, unfortunately the delivery and timeliness of the news 'rubbed me the wrong way'.  It has been difficult for me to shake the 'delivery' and the accompanying discussion.  Surprisingly the news itself, albeit troubling and concerning, and definitely news that requires much prayer, is not what is troubling me right now.  It's all the stuff that under normal circumstances should be easy to overlook.  That is how the enemy of our mind works.  I will not succumb to the misery or madness; I am happy to have my art to soothe my soul and mind...that's exactly what my tag line is for Y.'Vette Music & Art.  Plus I have faith that the real issue will be resolved, In Jesus' Name.

So, guess what!!!  I feel much better.  I need a minute to get it all together, but in faith believing, ALL will be well.

Happiness has found me!

I must say that the last 10 days have been life-changing.  My brother came to visit and it was his first time visiting me here.  It was as if time stood still and we picked up from where we left off when we were kids.  We are very close, but as adults one would not know it because our lives took opposite paths.  Even when I would go home, I would typically only see my brother for a few hours or if I was lucky a day or two.  To have 10 days together was a real blessing.  Amazing that he and I are very much alike - we love many of the same things - and we hold similar values.  Mere words cannot express how I feel right now.  After my 4+ mile walk this evening, he called me while on the road and has since texted me twice. :)What a blessed feeling and admiration and love I have for my brother.  Pure joy and happiness.  Our re-journey together is just beginning. Happiness has indeed found me!

Bayou City Art Festival

Yesterday afternoon (late) I went downtown to the Bayou City Art Festival.  By the time we got there, the ticket pricing had been reduced for the Bayou City After Dark, so that was a blessing to say the least.  However, I really enjoyed the 2.5 hours that I was there.  Got a chance to visit with several artists and see their work and discuss it with them.  I saw various media used, paper, metals, pastels, oils, watercolors, acrylic, colored pencils, etc.  Also there were different substrates used as well.  I learned that most of the artists there had their own higher priced cameras and ink jet printers so they could keep their originals (or sell them), and make limited edition prints of their work, as opposed to paying a 3rd party for this.  Okay, so I told myself, that will be my next investment...probably though I will start out small and move up as my work becomes more in demand (LOL).  Anyway, it was a wonderful few hours spent.  So I will keep on truckin' BABY!!!
